Rationale
Achimota means “speak no name” in the Ga language. In pre-colonial Ghana, its forbidden forest was a “SILENT” refuge for runaway slaves. Achimota is an established town located in the Accra Metropolitan District, a district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
Revered for the eponymous Achimota School (as well as the St. John’s Grammar School). Founded in 1924 and opened in 1927 by Sir Guggisberg, then Governor of the British Gold Coast colony.
The school has educated many of the nations great minds and leaders, including Kwame Nkrumah, Edward Akufo-Addo, Jerry John Rawlings, and John Evans Atta Mills, all of whom are former Heads of State of Ghana.
